This Grade 4 lesson book is a part of the Kids in the Know comprehensive safety educational program for increasing the personal safety of children and reducing their risk of sexual exploitation. Kids in the Know is the Canadian Centre for Child ProtectionÕs interactive safety education program designed for students from Kindergarten to Grade 9. They are to be used freely by all staff and students, instead of being barcoded for the school library learning commons. Each school’s SOGI Lead can help people access this kit. Full-Metal Indigiqueer works tirelessly to create coalition among Two-Spirit/Indigiqueer folk who have been ghosted in policy, page, tradition, and history—the very lives of Two-Spirit/Indigiqueer youth are rarely mentioned; they find themselves made spectral in settler and neocolonial Indigenous nationalisms. For those who have, as Donna Haraway once noted, 'been injured, profoundly', Full-Metal Indigiqueer is a sex-positive project that sparks resurgence.

The horrific 1998 murder of 21-year-old college freshman Matthew Shepard brought the issue of hate crimes against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people to the attention of the American people. The Matthew Shepard Foundation lobbied hard along with other LGBT groups, and in 2009 the federal hate crimes law was amended to include violence against LGBT people for the first time. In spite of the legal victory, however, the fear and hatred of LGBT people persists around the world. Cette bonne nouvelle est toutefois assombrie par l'accueil plutôt froid de son nouvel entraîneur et par la présence d'un joueur détestable dont le talent se limite selon Félix à être costaud et riche. L'adolescent n'est pas au bout de ses peines puisque son départ pour Rouyn lui fera revivre la mort de son père, dont il se sent responsable, et minera sa relation amoureuse, sans parler du stress de savoir que ses performances seront désormais scrutées à la loupe et qu'elles seront déterminantes pour juger de son avenir au sein du hockey.
